The  B I G  Picture
I discovered a PRIVATE Paradise closer to Atlanta than Hawaii.
It backs up on a National Park with steep 4500-foot peaks
and its evergreen rain forest that grows right down steep cliffs
to the mighty Pacific, with huge 18-foot tides twice daily!

This is a 40-mile stretch of coastline that combines
unspoiled tropical Hawaii interspersed with river
valleys and rolling hills like Napa Wine Country
on steroids! A "Middle Earth" version of Big Sur.

This marvelous Legacy Land is sparsely populated,
by a charming and peaceful people in a quiet country
that is favorably disposed toward USA Gringos!

At present, there is either little or no infrastructure
across most of this region. Adequate to proceed
with my purchase of one perfect piece of Privacy.

Additional impressions after one visit.
  • CLIMATE - Yes, we were blessed to have overcast in August,
only 7 degrees off the Equator. Honestly, Atlanta had worse
weather that lasted for weeks before. We almost went to
the tropics to cool off! Direct sun could have slowed us
to an even more leisurely pace.

  • NASTY BUGS - Our residence was remarkably free of insects.
It was a week for mango flies, but no one reported any bites
from mosquitos or the dreaded no-see-ums. There were some
crabs in the showers. No, not "lice". Little purple-and-orange
baby crabs who walked up from the ocean!

We spent a small fortune on Orvis' "Bug-Off" insect-repellant
clothing. Marc did not need his until he got back to Atlanta!
Still, it is wise to bring your own supply of Deep Woods Off.

  • PACIFIC OCEAN - 18-foot tides twice a day!
The most inviting water I've ever dipped a toe in.

  • ACCOMODATIONS - The facilites are modest yet attractive
and comfortable. There are three good bedrooms with their
own bathrooms (lukewarm showers only). There are also two
ordinary rooms (one double; one twin singles) that share one
bathroom via an exterior door.  ALL have air-conditioning.

  • RESERVED SERVICE - The staff at our Villa are not schooled
in 5-Star service. They do not hover or interrupt to ask
if you have a whim to be fulfilled. Instead, they respect
your privacy, yet remain ready to respond to requests.
Never saw them, but the bed was always turned down.
    SPANISH REQUIRED.  (Translators available)

  • GREAT FOOD - The cooks at our Villa are not schooled
in 5-Course service. They begin with world-class soups,
then haul it all out at once for a sit-down self-serve buffet.
Very healthy family-style home-cooking with unique flavors.
    Plus delicious exotic delights....like memonchinos.

  • THE PEOPLE - Never have I seen so many be so genuinely happy
with so little of what we regard as absolutely necessary. Ask my
Project Managers how impossible it was for them to get anyone
to steal anything - even in the big bustling Panama City itself!

  • SECURITY - The Police Chief was waiting to greet us when we landed.
(None of that "show me your papers" stuff. Just a courtesy.) Meanwhile,
I never could lock my front bedroom window.... and I couldn't care less!
Actually, I'm rather glad about it, because it required me to listen to the
ocean surf all night long.  I have not slept so well in years.

  • SAFETY - hmmmmm. maybe bring light shoes for wading in the ocean,
where you might encounter rocks or coral. (This was NOT a problem
at the Villa beach). Ocean swimming is excellent on the Gulf side; the
Pacific has strong currents, with a average 16-foot tide twice daily!

  • HEALTH - Believe it or not, you really CAN drink the water here!
Just in case, the nearest hospital is over an hour north. Fortunately,
we enjoy an established relationship with an eminently qualified Doctor
located in nearby Pedasi, available to stay at the Villa, if required.

  • DIVERSIONS - Ride a horse on the beach or thru the Eco-landscaped Estate.
Take a VERY small boat out to the nearby Continental Shelf and catch some
VERY large fish. Watch some surfers (or) watch for humpback whales and calves!
Go SCUBA diving. Or drive to Pedasi and chow down on Delila's legendary FLAN!

That's about it. That's the whole point. You don't come here to "party".
You come here to soothe your Soul. To fall completely in love with Mother Earth.
We are 97% salt water. Step into her warm Ocean. Pray (or stay) for one crystal-
clear night, so you may stand humble beneath more stars than you can imagine exists.

  • RESOURCES - As we add to our Project Knowledge Base, we shall
make those updates available to those of you who show genuine
interest in sharing my WIN-WIN Vision.

  • THE OPPORTUNITIES - As I add to my own Portfolio, I shall make
all "overflow" offers of Land and Eco-Projects available to those of you
who show sustained interest in joining me in this WIN-WIN Vision.
